May 19, 2010. The 2010 induction ceremony was held at Drake University
on May 19, 2010 and was attended by
209 people.
 The
master of ceremonies was Ellen Corwin, 2009 - 2010 chair of the Iowa
Insurance Hall of Fame. The keynote Speaker was Bob Fulwider. Bob is
the national president of the Independent Agents and Brokers of America
and a member of the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame since his induction in
2003. Many thanks to our generous

IIHOF Scholarship recipients

| May 05, 2010. The Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame has awarded three scholarships. At Drake University Ryan Uhlenberg received the 2010 scholarship. | January 31, 2010. Lawrence William “Larry” Matthews, Jr., 88, died Thursday, January 28, 2010. Larry was inducted into the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame in 2009. | ||
| January 21, 2010. The IIHOF Board has designated May 19, 2010 as the date for the 14th Annual Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony. The event will be held at Drake University starting at 5:00 pm. Registration and other details will be posted here in April. | ||
| January 10, 2010. Insurance Broadcasting, in conjunction with the Insurance Media Association, has announced the 7th annual list of the "100 Most Powerful People In The Insurance Industry, North America" also referred to as "The Insurance Dream Team." Dr. Therese M. Vaughan, NAIC Chief Executive Officer is on the list. Dr. Vaughan was inducted into the IIHOF in 2003. | ||
| November 12, 2009. The Iowa Chapter of the CPCU Society presented the Burkhalter Award to Dr. Therese M. Vaughan, NAIC Chief Executive Officer. The Burkhalter Award is designed to recognize individuals who have influenced the Iowa property and casualty insurance industry and their community through civic involvement. The Burkhalter Award is named after Major General Louis D. Burkhalter, Jr., a 2005 inductee of the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame. Dr. Vaughan was inducted into the IIHOF in 2003. | ||
| October 10, 2009. J. Scott McIntyre, Jr. died on October 06, 2009. Mr. McIntyre was inducted into the IIHOF in 2006. | ||
| September 21, 2009. Theodore D. Lussem was awarded the Excellence Award from the National Society of CPCU at their annual meeting in Denver, CO. The award was in recognition of Ted's life-long commitment to helping many people complete numerous continuing educations programs and designations. Mr. Lussem was inducted into the IIHOF in 2000. | ||

| March 01, 2009. Therese M. Vaughan was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), a position she assumed in February 2009. As CEO, Dr. Vaughan oversees the operations of the NAIC, including offices in Kansas City, Washington, DC, and New York City, and serves as the Association’s primary representative and chief spokesperson in Washington, D.C. Dr. Vaughan was inducted into the IIHOF in 2003. | ||
| May 22, 2008. Willard D. Classen, Cleo F. Edwards, R. W. "Mickey" Forshay, Gerald M. Kirke and William A. Van Orsdel were inducted into the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame on Thursday May 22, 2008. The 2008 induction ceremony was held at Drake University and was attended by 211 people. Speakers for the event were Susan E. Voss, Iowa Insurance Commissioner and Larry D. Zimplemann, President and Chief Executive Officer, Principal Financial Group. | ||
